DeKalb School District Rebrand

DeKalb Community School District is comprised of eleven schools in three communities. Their goal was to better unite the district and its schools through a cohesive brand system. For years, the district adopted the high school’s logo, which is an uppercase D set in a Blackletter font. Eventually, the schools desired something that was more encompassing of the other communities. The district desired to keep the uppercase D, which is synonymous with DeKalb and its schools. By including the wing of the mascot, Barbie Crow, the new logo communicates the journey students take from elementary to high school and the growth that is experienced during those years. Please see below for early iterations of the brandmark.
